Your First Visit: What to Expect

At Chan & Chen Orthodontics, our greatest goal is to help you achieve a healthy, straight, and beautiful smile — one that boosts your confidence and reflects your true self.

We understand that choosing orthodontic treatment is a big decision. That’s why we’re here to support you every step of the way, offering advanced technology, personalized care, and a variety of safe, effective treatment options.

It All Starts with a Complimentary Consultation

Your initial consultation is the perfect time to:

  • Meet Dr. Chen, Dr. Sepe and our friendly team

  • Learn about your orthodontic options

  • Receive a full orthodontic evaluation

During this visit, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history

  • Take digital X-rays and perform a complete oral exam

  • Discuss whether treatment is needed and what options are available

  • Create a customized treatment plan just for you

  • Go over all financial details, insurance benefits, and payment plans

What Happens After the Initial Consultation?

You’re one step closer to the smile you’ve always wanted!

After your complimentary consultation, here’s what you can expect:

1. Diagnostic Records Appointment

We’ll schedule your next visit to gather detailed diagnostic records. This includes:

  • A digital scan of your teeth using our advanced iTero® scanner

  • Photos and X-rays (if needed)

  • Any other information Dr. Chen and Dr. Sepe needs to create your personalized treatment plan

This step helps us prepare your custom orthodontic appliances — whether you’re getting braces or Invisalign® aligners.

2. Appliance Placement

A few weeks after your records appointment, you’ll return to the office to have your appliances placed. This is the exciting moment when your smile transformation officially begins!

Scheduling Appointments

Regular visits are an essential part of your orthodontic care. Most patients come in every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on their treatment plan. We’ll work closely with you to schedule appointments that are convenient and minimize disruption to your routine.

Seeing Your Dentist During Orthodontic Treatment

Even while undergoing orthodontic care, it’s important to continue seeing your family dentist every six months for cleanings and checkups.

Why It Matters:

  • Your dentist helps monitor your overall oral health

  • Regular cleanings reduce the risk of cavities and gum issues during treatment

  • We’ll coordinate with your dentist if any additional care is needed

Together, we’ll make sure your smile stays healthy and beautiful — during and after treatment.
