Happy National Dog Day from Chan & Chen Orthodontics. Dogs are a special part of a person’s life, offering unconditional love and constant companionship through all the highs and lows. That’s why today we celebrate Dr. Chen’s cute dog, Shiro.
Shiro has been a part of Dr. Chen’s family for almost 3 years. Dr. Chen’s family wanted a dog for the longest time so Shiro was a welcomed new addition. His name means “white” in Japanese, although he is not white (as you can tell). It’s become a tradition for Dr. Chen’s husband to name dogs “Shiro” as his childhood dog had the same name and his father’s childhood dog before him.
Dogs make such good companions because they are very good at non-verbal communication. They know what you are thinking and feeling, which is very true for Shiro. Life with Shiro is full of love and joy. He loves to be by the side of his family and Dr. Chen’s children have become incredibly attached to him! They love to take walks around the neighborhood together.
Sometimes Shiro gets up to the silliest antics. Shiro loves to lick dirty dishes in the dishwasher. Once, his paw got stuck in the rack and he needed help getting untangled. For a few days after that, every time he came by the dishwasher he would loudly remark his displeasure at it. Soon enough, though, he was back to licking the dishes.
To celebrate Shiro on National Dog Day, Dr. Chen and her family plan on spoiling him with affection and treats! Shiro loves treats and they enjoy getting special treats for him!
If you are considering adding a dog into your family, Dr. Chen has some friendly advice for you. First, be prepared to spend a lot of time and effort integrating the dog into your daily life, especially if you get a puppy. It takes a lot of dedication but taking the time to properly train your furry companion when they are young will pay off later! You won’t regret getting a dog as they truly become a member of the family.
